Well, not quite but if anyone local has a use for 20L of diesel / petrol mix in a ratio of about 2:1, it's yours for the taking away, so long as you return my jerry can.

Fer fuxxake don't put it in an AGA!!!!!!!

I should perhaps add that what you do with it is entirely your responsibility and I'm not responsible for any damage or life-threatening events arising from careless misuse.

Leave it to settle out for a couple of days? The diesel will settle to the bottom and then siphon the petrol from the top?

Mind you, the guy who drained my tank last week said that they put all their drainage into an 18k litre tank which is then pumped out and taken to a refinery for further fractionation. If you're really stuck you could try these guys to dispose of it?

If it's what you say.

and you have a diesel car, take it with you to filling station, and put half in the tank before you fill with diesel.
Next time you fill put the rest in.
We had a very smoky leon and used to put in 5 litres of petrol along with 50 litres of diesel the day before MOT. No smoke for mot.
New airflow meter and clean the EGR valve eventually cured it.
This is lower than the permissible petrol content for very cold weather according to VW.

We have two diesel VW cars - my 170 TDI PD Golf and SWMBO's 140 TDI CR Tiguan. I'd be very wary of putting any petrol in either of them with the lower lubricity of ultra low sulphur diesel.

I'd just like rid of the stuff and have the use of my jerry can back again. A friend who came up from Sheffield on his Ducati last weekend managed to fill it with diesel as we were heading out on Friday morning.

That's all.
If VW recommend it what's the problem?
Mind you, the Leon has only done 190,000 miles so I cannot say if it has done any long term damage since I started doing it at 50,000 miles.
Please also take note that modern diesels no longer have a conventional injection pump, and the military spec nowadays calls for diesels to run on Jet "A" which is near enough kerosene to you. Not much lubrication there!
