My map arrived yesterday, a cursory glance would suggest it could be quite useful with detailed mapping of the area, 10 ride outs already marked and lots of hotel info on the reverse, looking forward to putting it to some good use, cheers Wapping 
Nice freebie map, routes may well be available from a link on it. Will have another look later and post back.

You have to then click on the "Motorradtouren" link and then choose the routes. Sadly because our local tourist people are idiots you now get a track rather than the routes the used to supply. Not everyone knows how to convert tracks to routes and they should not have to anyway! You could also get there from the English page but for the same idiocy causing them to use a system that is only in German once you get there. ( there is another system produced by an Austrian company and used extensively in the Tirol that is available in several languages but our lot of fools chose this one produced by a German company in just the one language)
As I have said before some of the routes don't always take the best roads because they have to take in the hotels that have shelled out to be on the map! Not that there are many bad roads here but some are better than others.
Still it is great that more people are finding out about our wonderful region.

Not sure I know how to convert a track. Have on occasion run two computers side by side and copied route over.
All downloaded as tracks, came on here and saw your post
Gives a good idea of distances and helps me start revising place names of towns villages and borders. A feel for the area.
Have had a good root through me John Hermann book too. Do like some of the less commercial pass opportunities.
Of course ,Julie and I will be looking to chat to you and tap into your local knowledge when we visit in August

Yes, the map is useful to give an idea of some of the possibilities here. We have used it ourselves at shows to give an impression of the region. We have had to cover up the crap translation which, until I pointed it out to them, said " The best Motorcycle routes south of the Alps" We are, of course, right in the Alps but to a native English speaker "south of" means not in. They changed it last year after I told the guy in charge that this was just one of the reasons we would not joint this unprofessional organisation.
Sorry ranting! We pay taxes for these incompetents, tourism is so badly run here it's almost criminal.
We have around 60 day routes available here to our guests, all are actually routes not tracks. When you come in August you might be surprised by the lack of traffic, certainly the Grossglockner is best avoided at weekends during high season but almost everywhere else will be fine.

See you in September. I doubt our police will be on holiday but here they only bother you if you speed in towns. You arrive after the big Harley meeting (70,000 of them) so the roads will indeed be empty. As in fact they are all summer. Only during Harley week do we have much on our roads, during that week they form mobile chicanes everywhere.
Just one point regarding the downloadable track provided by the masters of tourism at Motorradland Kaernten. For any of you who have looked at these the timings given are totally unrealistic. .
In fact I would go so far as to say they are simple not possible given the roads used. A prime example is their Grossglockner route, time given is 4 hours. My route which is about the same length but uses better roads at several points and avoids a couple of towns. When I take groups on this run we leave at 9am and aim to be back between 5 & 6pm so 8 to 9 hours. Even if your bike could cover the distance without a fuel stop and you didn't stop at all to admire the views, eat and drink, toilet breaks,just solid brisk riding I think you would need 5.5 to 6 hours. And you will have missed so much in the process. The views from the Edelweisspitze for instance are worth at least 30 minutes of anybody's time.
Same applies to all their routes, ignore the timings, they give us locals a good laugh but just mislead others. Think of each one as a full day and they almost work although some are I think just cramming too much into a day leaving little time for actually experiencing being there. In the mountains 200 miles is a big day, a great day but tiring especially if you don't ride these roads regularly.
