Had my Bike go through its MOT yesterday and it passed.

The tester though pointed out very slight free play on the back wheel.. not enough to fail.. but certainly 'detectable' - perhaps 1 or 2mm - side to side and unaffected by the brakes.

My question is how much should I prioritise getting this sorted - Its not something I'm prepared to tackle myself...

will the bike be ok if this is left for another month or so of daily riding - road only.

many thanks

Sounds very much like your paralever bearings need adjusted. It is a simple job to do.

A quick search should throw up plenty more info. :thumb2

Yes.. I know that.. but as I said - its not something I'm prepared to DIY. I just want to know that it will be fine until the end of May (without risk of expensive damage) and can be done then in addition to a couple of other jobs I'm budgeting for... Or should i get it fixed 'Yesterday'

Replacing the Paralever Pivot bearings is one of the easier DIY jobs. Bearings are about £30 a set, I swap them in under 2 hours taking it easy with plenty of tea & biscuits, dealer will be quicker, perhaps £100 all in?

They will either wear out the bearings, or not, they may just need adjusting, but if left to long they may have to be renewed, or they may need renewed, so its up to you :aidan

free play

:thumb I had about the same amount of play on my 1100 and used it daily for about 4 months before finally getting the paralever bearings done - just kept an eye on the amount of play and it never got any worse or affected the ride :beerjug:

bearings

i felt a bit of play at rear end:eek:as i was riding, popped into vines and they adjusted the paralever bearings while i waited, charged me 22 quid inc vat, thought that was good.
