oh thats all right the, and there was me thinking he didnt like me.
What is the cost of first service for KTM?

When I was looking to buy a new 990 Adv, I was quoted about £280. I'm sure if varies from dealer to dealer.

There's quite a few of the supermoto guys on Visordown ride KTM's so you might get some info there.

Answered earlier in this thread for what I paid. It will vary from dealer to dealer, I guess and is subject to whatever negotiation you make at sale.

For what it's worth, BMW servicing was pretty keenly priced - BMW UK impose fixed prices on their dealers. KTM do not but my local one has been very competitive.

Why quibble over even quite marked differences in service prices compared to, say, your fuel costs? It's much more important that you're happy with the service you get.

When I used Canon when they were in Chelmsford, they were OK. My KTM dealer in Norwich is excellent.

Thanks for advice Shenzi, but I will make up my own mind as to what I will do.
Nice of you to worry about me though...Thankyou.
Is the word Feck in the English dictionary? I dont seem to find it anywhere.?

A man of many talents, in addition to being a miserable boring twat you give english lessons. Maybe I have misread your posts but I get the impression that you probably need some medication, there are people out there that can help.

As far as 'feck' is concerned I was staying within what appear to be the unwritten boundaries of the site. Sorry it confused you but I'm sure if you think very hard you will understand the hidden meaning.:dabone

Yes , thankyou for realising I am a guy of many talents.
I cant give you any praise for guessing I am on medication as I would have thought that was obvious....after all, I spent nearly £10,000 on an unreliable, badly built, crappy finished/designed heap of German junk...........where are me tablets, get me tablets quick, I need me tablets........
I can give English lessons free in return for German lessons. Then I can tell BMW to **** *** in their own language.

Why dont you sell it:nenau

If my GS caused me angst yours is inflicting on you, it would be gone by now. Dont take this the wrong way, but I reckon you enjoy bellyaching... was your last bath too wet?

And yet another one pops up from the BMW cult.
Have they let you out of their commune for the day?
Ve vill fight zem on zer beaches and zell zem our heaps ov German scrap metal. Ve vill call zem GS.

You are a silly bugger aren't you :ymca

You are being like the only black bloke at the KKK convention (or should that be Eastern European in Scotland :augie :D )

Of course everyone here are going to sing it praises. Even if you are absolutely right BUT you are saying it amoung a group of people that take the opposite view THEREFORE by default you are WRONG. (e.g. It is the sane person that is mad in a room full of mad people :D)

One thing I noticed that I am also guilty off. Too shy to inflict my rant on the actual perpetrator of my grief so I take it out on a bulletin board and act all hard
I think I will write to the Dealer Principal at Vines and give him some of anger at the shoddy treatment I got for spending 12k with them. :thumb2

I will still keep the bike though .. it's fecking lovely (BTW .. if I use the actual spelling of that rude word .. the computer will :censor::censor: it out)

Anyway I think you should ... :stopbeing and go out and ride the thing. Sooner or later you have give up and start to love it. Then you will be defending all its "quirks" with as much passion as all these tossers here. :D

If you decide to sell it .. how about £4k cash?

Tekky what are you on...?

Citalopram or is it Haloperidol?

Lighten up and stop hijacking threads.

Calling Mr Essex man aka BMW Tekky:

Still waiting to hear what it was you said to Cannon (or whoever), when confronted by the very sizeable first service bill. A bill that you thought was free, as I recall....and, of course, the dealer's reply.

Betting now says you simply paid up, all meekly, and then ranted here.

Tekky,My first GS let me down a lot but when it was workin fine it was bloody brilliant,I managed to work with SSB,who were and still are, brilliant and they helped me get it changed. This one has been great only a couple of minor issues.I soon realised it was not the GS range as a whole that had problems, just mine, just that particular one and i guess each little problem became bigger because it was one problem after another and at 10K of my own,not loaned, money I was gutted. But as I looked around I saw that other peoples GS's were great.
I would work with your dealer and BMW to get your bike sorted or changed.Ranting on here 24/7 aint gonna help ya all you will do is put everyones back up and end up with no help at all when ya need it.
Honest they are great bikes, some have problems,we know, but cultivate a good relationship with yer dealer, get it sorted and enjoy.:cool

You may, if you don't take more precautions, choke on your own bile.

Good job you didn't buy a VF1000 Honda, or a VF750,CX500,CBX550 or god forbid a Kawasaki 500 H1. You may have had a problem with one.

Oh yeh, for the love of god, dont go near any pre 90's British bike.

It's not that hard for that to happen :o :(

You've lost the plot. Your degree means nothing without a grounding in reality.

The world and your dealer does not owe you a living.

Why not just do what I did? Put the bike up for sale (probably not here) and move on.

ERRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......I am a fully qualified electro/mechanical engineer with a first from Cambridge.

I work with someone with a double 1st degree, from the 'other place'. He needs help tying his shoes.....but is not a bad bloke, just the same.

Maybe not today, tomorrow or the next day but one day you just might.

I received a lot of help on a topic as far removed from BuMW motorcycles as one could get. It was all to do with advice on care for my aged great aunt. Jolly useful and helpful it was, too. Some of the help came from the usual piss takers but who, not surprisingly, knew what they were talking about, from hands on experience of working with the elderly and local care bodies.

Now back to the question in post #2.

What did you say to the dealer, when confronted by the first service bill (expecting it to be free) - Cannons, was it? - and how did the dealer reply?

Oh damn, I was just enjoying some of your stuff Tekky and then you went and spoilt it by telling everyone about your first from cambridge. There's few things worse than someone telling you what qualificatiions they have when you havent asked.:nenau
