A piss take / argument was fine but then it went on again this morning with the route via Switzerland and Italy.

I have moved them all to the playground section.

Now let’s help Doc arrange all the assorted ‘Must do’ suggestions through the length and bredth of FRENCH ALPS into a holiday that he and his wife will enjoy. Who knows, some other bods might well find the thread useful, too.

As I’ve incurred the WOW, here’s a very quick few ideas that I knocked up in 30 minutes after being up all night.
What I would do.
One night in Annecy ,unless you want to sight see.

Then ride the RDGA as far as Jausiers



Stay at Villa Morelia TWO nights.

Then next day ride the SE RDGA loop with lunch or a stop at Halte 2000 and a stop in Roubion for a few pics.



Back to Villa Morelia for rosé and medals.

Next day ride the other bit of RDGA to Castellane, where you’ll be staying at least TWO nights.

Drop your gear off at Nouvel Hotel du Commerce then go to Antibes for lunch via the Route Napoleon.Then ride around the coast and back to Castellane via Draguignan and the sublime D955



Next day ride around the Gorge du Verdon including the Route des Cretes.Have lunch in Aiguines.



These routes aren’t to be used-I knocked them up very quickly but it gives you some more ideas.

Basically, as I’ve said more than once ,as have others, you need multiple min bases. If your in the French Alps, you HAVE to sample the RDGA and the Route Napoleon.

No idea where you are going after Castellane but I would go up the Route Napoleon, branch off to Die and then over the Col du Rousset…..

I would go as far as to suggest that Doc does the Antibes loop as a standalone day trip. It be a shame to go that far without having a bit of a wonder about and a spot of window shopping... Maybe even stay the night there?
I see that you've included, what looks to be a spectacular coastal route for some distance, no doubt, Doc (Jayne likely) will want to pull over for a bit of a view gazing.

Remember Doc "likes to get there". I've gathered from his previous posts, that he's not the one to arrive at the digs gone 5pm, more like 2-3pm and be done for the day. Doing this route might take them literally beyond 5pm.

Yes but you forgot to factor in the 5 am start . If Doc sets off from Castellane , he’ll be in Antibes before breakfast

I’d maybe do something different at the bottom end. Stick with your ‘Must do’ plan of Annecy and Castellane, but then head across westwards into Provence, maybe with an excursion down to the Mediterranean, west of Marseille. Then return northwards, broadly in the direction of the arrow.

If I was going to bolt on seeing someone in Germany, then I’d maybe not head south from Annecy to Castellane first.

A hangers in plans to add in Germany, maybe plays into Udders’ idea of going east into Switzerland and then up, sort of via Munich. Or, cutting up the eastern side of France and then turning east. It all depends on where in Germany (a bloody big country) your friend lives.
