Tricky,
Good to see you had a nosy in the little chapel , nice one. Col du Avaris? is very nice. Was the Cormet du Roseland closed, that pass is so good on lots of levels,
one being my brother-in-law trying to ride through an electric fence put up for milking cows.
Annecy also is one top stop over place.Glad you had a good trip and thanks for taking the time to post.

Just a few pics from my trip to the French Alps in the first week in June.
Most of the higher passes were still closed unfortunately.
On the bright side however the weather was good and most Cols below 1500m were open.
Col des Aravis
Hi , I am heading to Mont Blanc June / July this year ..... Did you do a route map or just ride and see where you got too ?
We can't decide whether to ride straight there and spend time going into Italy etc or do a scenic route on the way and spend less time in the alps .... Being Lazy really if somebody already had a good trip plan !!

Cheers .... The pics look fab ... Did you go through France or round through Germany? ... Couple of guys fancy going down Germany Austria way !Hi Paul
Just road down to see where I got to.
We had good weather on the French side and was talking to some others that had been on the Italian side and they had constant rain with lots of snow on the higher passes - most of which were closed.
Earlier in the season is good for daylight hours and less tourists. The weather can change very quickly and it's nice to move on if required and be flexible.

Went down through France using smaller roads with the odd autoroute section thrown in to speed things up. Might depend on how much time you have and how long you want to spend in the Alps etc. Germany/Austria route is just as good if you want to do a bigger loop.![]()

Good to re-visit Tricky on a cold Jan night
Looks like you went solo and pleased yourself
I think I might do a little trip like this in 2014 too
No agenda, just a sojourn
