Have just been browsing french sites and have found a link to a garmin compatible database listing all french speed camera locations (277 at this moment).

Click the link or copy & paste into browser to be directed to the site and download the 'Garmin.mps' file....works a treat !

I know laser and radar detectors are illegal over there, but what about the GPS based ones??

Just wondering ;)

Not sure, but input into GPS as waypoints should give advance warning without being obvious to the French plod....

It's perfectly legal to have that info in a GPS. The government even will supply you with the coordinates !!

Is there a way to add these waypoints into an existing mps file? I've already got a load of routes and waypoints defined for a trip but would like to add the camera sites too. Seems there's no way to import an mps, and if you open it you lose the one you had before.

I also tried saving/exporting them so I could re-import but.....

There's only one little problem here...
The French enjoy 'motorised gaol posts' and since the majority of their traps are inside cars conveniently parked.....this database becomes ...well....you decide!!:P
Be sensible, stay within speed limits - it isn't worth it especially out there with on-the-spot fines or worse still, immediate vehicle confiscation if you're too much over the limit..... you've been warmed !!:P ;) :D
Brits are perceived as a wonderful source of income when it comes to cameras! :D
Funny that...just like our 'beloved mayor...' ...

This is one way to do it............

Open mapsource and your first file.

Then open mapsource again (as if it's not open) and open the other file.

You'll have two mapsource tabs on your screen.

Select all the waypoints you want and then select copy.

Go/switch to the screen with the file you want them to be in. Put the cursor over the waypoint bit on the left and select paste.

They should appear.

Save file(s).

The end :D
