I usually use street view to check out whether parking is secure (sad I know but a Panigale, Multistrada and Fireblade make an attractive target I'd imagine!) but Germany seems to have opted-out!

I've booked a hotel in the centre and they mention a 'garage of the city' but when I emailed them they said it 'may not motorcycles' :nenau

Be helpful if anyone has been and knows a public secure car park in the city.

If you want a better Black Forest type hotel, not far away........ try Hotel Hirsch in Bad Peterstal, about 15kms from Freudenstadt (towards Strasbourge road

Good food/rooms/quiet car park and free garage possibility at their sister hotel adjacent

Thanks Johnny but we prefer smaller towns like Freudenstadt that have a few bars etc

There is a below ground car park in the central square/market place. Never been down into it, so cannot really comment on security. But Freudenstadt never strikes me as a hotbed of crime. Rather it is a typical Black Forest sleepy town. So, not as good (secure) as basement parking below the hotel, but I think you should be okay

2-3 bars in Bad Petertstal (smallish town)and a biker hotel (Touren Fahrer recommended one too)

Up to you, we're all different

Thanks Paul, as long as the bikes are out of sight we're happy so that's fine.

Cheers Johnny, the larger towns usually aren't as much fun as the smaller ones in our experience so you may be right but that town is a little way off our route too so will stick with Freudenstadt this time

I think that you will like the place. A nice small town and some nice cafes on the market square. And slap bang in some nice biking areas. Most tend to make a beeline for the B500 up to baden Baden. But I can recommend the the B294 heading north to Pforzheim. Indeed, the B500 & then the B294 make a nice circular route. The roads south down towards Freiburg are also nice. They go through the wine region and have some magnificent valleys

We stayed in Freudenstadt on the way to Austria last summer. Here's the website of the B&B. They do the best breakfast of any B&B I've ever been to.

Garage parking was included in the price.

Generally safe anywhere in the Black Forest, we always stay at Pension Williams (in the village of Seebach) where the only crime in about 50 years has been someone's tractor leaking a few drops oil on the road which was dealt with by the local serious crime squad.

Triberg would be my choice of Black Forest town, really beautiful with lots of bars / restaurants.

Cheers all, we stayed at pension Williams last time we did the black forest. Brilliant place, awesome honesty bar with cracking beer. We were going to go back but thought we'd try somewhere different

Hotel Adler in Freudenstadt, food is fantastic and they locked our bikes in their own garage.

The underground carpark in Freudenstadt is fine- no worries at all.
Nice town too.
