Well lads and ladies, I've decided to part with the Serow I bought from Brian ( Reonvore ) a while back. It's a cracking little bike and I've had huge fun on it, but I'm looking to go a little bigger so I'm thinking of moving to a WR450 or something similiar.

All comments, advise or offers welcome.:blagblah

Would ya not be better off with a WR250 they're a fantastic bike for trail riding.

The 450 is a pretty good bike for trail riding too. Both are a fair bit "different" to the Serow though.

Out of curiosity, how tall are you? I had the impression the Serows are short... the WRs are not..

WR 250 :thumb
The only advantage of having a 450 over a 250 is after a 5 min blast on forestry roads in top gear the 250 might be 25sec behind you. As For the 250 it's i easier to lift on to a trailer, drag out of a bog hole get out from under it, and it gets better traction.

Right lads thanks for all the advise. That's the sort of stuff I was looking for.
Now I have a reason for thinking along the lines of a 450 and it;s because I want to use the new bike as a dual purpose tool. I'm trying to thin out the herd in the garage and if i could get a bike for trail riding and use the same bike for commuting or a bit of touring, by just changing the wheels - road tyres and knobblies on two sets of rims if you know what I mean.

Some of you know I have an 1100GS so if i could replace that and the serow with just one bike it wold be cool. I know I'm never going to get a direct replacement for boh bikes but something approaching that.

Would the WR250 be suitable as a road hack???

Scratch the WR450F then and look for a DRZ or a WR250R

The 450 is great, but needs too much servicing to be a commuter bike.
The 250r is detuned and built with what you want in mind.

I think I gave Brian €700 for it last year so if I got that back i'd be happy enough.

Could I have a test ride please, ill take it if its running well :beerjug:
Ill pm u my mobile and we can meet, im a few miles west of the city
Any chance of a few pics, mileage, condition etc

As LiquidLan the DRZ 400 are a great bike.

he's not very.

Have had a wr450f and now a crf250x ,No brainer. Has to be the 250. The 450 has too much power for the forrest and you'll end up spinning the back wheel quite a lot. As one of the other guys said , the only real advantage of the 450 is on fire roads and you woundn't be long getting bored of that, As for changing the wheels , pain in the hole. An off road bike is for offroad and why bother tearing the hole out of a 450 /250 on the road if you got a road bike already . :rob
