Front Brake Awol

Hi Folks,

Strange one this, just left the bike for a week on stand waiting for

parts to arrive for Rocker box etc, when after work done thought right out

for a quick spin ! Took bike off stand total failure of front brake, zilch no

pressure at all, lever just pulls straight back to bars ! 1150 GS 95

Will have to strip down and find out why ?

Anyone experience same problem ?

Hi Folks,

Well its sorted now, very strange but fluid had disappeared from

the reservoir, not the norm but sorted now.

Did you have the front wheel out in the week?
Souunds like clearance being taken up.

No not at all, the bike was totally static and nothing removed.

Just strange it happened

You say 1150...but 1995 ??

Anyway...if the bike is 12 years old and has been on a stand with both wheels off the ground..and lost the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir..and has the original brake lines...I`d spend a bit of time checking for cracked lines or loose fittings which may have weeped out the fluid due to the lines being at full extension.

There was a 'nasty' posted here a while back about the master cylinder to ABS line splitting on an early GS.
Could be worth a look in this area too.

Hi Tarka,

I think the 1150 bit was wishfull thinking LOL I meant 1100, just reading

your post I think as you say it needs a bit more under the microscope attention.

Will have agood lookaround to see possible leaks !
