Had a run out today over to huddersfield and back through holmfirth for fish n chips n fizzy pop. Stopped in Hudds for a break, just pulled bike forwards to reverse into parking space, applied front brakes and the lever seemed to shake or vibrate and not much in the way of stopping i felt!
anywhoo, i didnt really take much notice of it, but still in my mind, on the way to Holmfirth i pulled up at some lights, pulled the front brake on again, and again same issue, seemed to vibrate through the lever and bike did not stop too well.
I carried on and at intervals checked the brakes sharply and normally, they seemed fine, stopped in holmfirth, then over the tops onto the woodhead back home.
Checked everything when i got back, cant see any issues.

anyone any ideas.....???

Mine does the pulsing lever and no brakes thing if I put the brakes on after running over a corrugated road surface. Not during the bumps, but if I put the brakes on up to a couple of seconds after the bumps.
I tend to pump the brake a time of two before I squeeze hard.

I don't like it either :comfort

the pulsing is the abs kicking in, all you can do is hold on as tight as you can, you get used to it, saved my but a few times:augie

keep her lit

Thanks Jacro,

Just been out most of the day, only one instance, coming onto a slip road onto wolley edge services.
Just got over the speed bumps, applied the front brake to pull into the services and again, pulsing from the lever and more pressure needed to stop!

Mine does the same just seems to be the ABS being overeager although i have found that it happens less often if i have the lever span set further away from the bar don't know why this is might just be me modulating them more before the ABS has a chance to kick in

Off the wall idea, but it's not the brake pads moving too far from the disk oover the bumps is it?

Have no braking problems on mine so I've not experienced what you're getting, but I do remember from days of yore when tankslappers were more normal than they are now that sometimes the pads get pushed back and then you need a couple of squeezes to get them to the braking point again...

Check disk for warping?

Hi
I've now had 3 new disks and a replacement front wheel to resolve a front disk warping problem on my F650 twin (with ABS) - thankfully all under warranty. This was due to the disk mountings on the wheel not being square and so the disk kept warping. Its worth a check on yours as the juddering was particularly noticeable at low speeds but felt like brake fade at higher speeds. I too had wondered about the ABS but I had not been braking hard enough or in slippy enough conditions to warrant the ABS kicking in.
Good luck with sorting it. Presumably you're a Rainbow user too?

Happened again today, just on a normal road ( full of potholes)
lots of bumps, just after hitting the bumps, once again, pulled the front brake to feel the pulsing and having to pull it harder to make it slow down as per normal.
A post further back hit it on the spot, where it just seems to happen after a rough bit of surface!!!
Jacro is going to ask the dealer on Thursday to find out what the fix is.

I did speak with rainbow when it happened, they asked me to keep an eye on it and book it in if and when needed.

Got the issue off to a tee now!
Braking today to a junction, as slowing down with the brake lever, i hit one of many potholes in the road, the brake started pulsing and had to pull the lever harder to make it brake!
Tried again in asda car park, hit a speed bump, just before going over it braked and tested it, same again, the lever started pulsing after going over the bump.

Just awaiting jacro to speak to the dealer to find out about the issue......:comfort

Have the same kind of issue as well. Happens when riding relatively slowly (10mph), braking and hit a pothole (does everytime i drive onto my driveway). The front brake feels like its gone rock solid and i cant pull the lever back any further, i just release the brake and re-apply. Im pretty sure this is just the ABS being a bit crap at slow speed and nothing out of the ordinary (but i could be wrong...).

ok

ok here goes

bm bot says this is the natural charecteristic of abs as weel starts locking up particularily over bumps the lever will start travelling in not a fault just have faith take you car out and wack on the brakes on gravel and feel the pedal go to the floor. also you will get brake fade if your brakes over heat ie pads binding, take bike out for good run heavy braking then on to centre stand and spin wheels if not free overhall brakes... if you still think there is a prob go to bm safety first lads bm will want to help afterall they dont want to hear of a customer smashing in to a wall cause of faulty brakes..

hope this helps

get the wheel up

jack

This happens to me too. I just pull the level herder and it all pans out....99.9% of the time. :thumb
