Where is the best place to get front discs for my 800gs? discs not worn but as loose as hell on the bobbins :blast unless someone can fit new bobbins?

Mine are real noisy too. Does my head in. Will watch this thread with interest

. . . . but as loose as hell on the bobbins . . . .
I looked at a F800GSA in the showroom in Inverness on Saturday, and on grabbing the discs and rotating them they moved as much as the discs on my '09 bike.

To use the old salesmans saying - "They all do that Sir"

As a foot note, the GSA looks nice, but nothing special, to me anyway. My bumblebee coloured beasty still looks the dogs danglies :D

Couldn't find any

I was considering replacing mine recently as I was concerned that they are worn out. This was luckily not the case, but I did not manage to find any alternative.
There used to be an alternative from EBC, but for some reason they are not available anymore. I was told in the bike garage that EBC had to recall the last series of the disc.
New replacement from BMW (Brembo) were something like £300 each at stealer.

If anybody knows a cheaper alternative, I am interested to know as well.

what are the options? I cannot find anything for the front other than the outrageously expensive oe items.

I replaced my brake discs with some nice new Moto-Masters wavey discs (and some new pads). OEM are expensive.

I got them from Off Road Only. I first saw them on the Wunderlich website.

112108 = £109.95 + vat
112109 = £109.95 + vat
110343 = £68.40 + vat

I paid £345.96 all in! The shipping was free because it was over £100. I recommend new bolts unless your current ones are still in decent condition - mine were a rusty mess. You should fit them with new pads, mine were ready for a change anyway.

Off Road Only don't routinely stock them but they will get them in for you - they're the UK dealer for Moto-Master products.

Contact Ady and tell him I sent you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, I think it will be very useful because there's no way I'm paying oe prices and my discs are not great :eek

I have no idea how Micky managed 72k plus miles on original discs and pads - I can only assume he never uses them!;)

Do 650 discs fit the 800? I have found EBC's for £125 inc VAT. Probably not, but they're the same size so thought I would ask...

I got 68k from my discs... probably could have had more but i think I leant on them when tyre changing in Siberia which knackered the bobbins of the floating discs? But at least I have nice new wavey discs now.

Thanks Stephen. Very odd, Ady said he couldn't find them for my 800. He's quoted £190 each for the ones I found!

I'll go back to him...

I also realised that I had a personal friend at a BMW parts dept. :blast so I am getting a quote from him - cost plus 5%..

How long ago did you buy yours? Perhaps they areb discontinued, I tied google and it came up blank with those part numbers....:nenau

Thanks - I get through on that link ok but you cannot order them through that website? And if you google the details, it comes up with a webpage that if you select displays the message webpage not found. I cannot find a supplier of those discs at all on the net.

I got a price of £455 inc pads for the oe items which saves quite a bit but I would still rather pay less!

£130 for the front disc is a good price. £455 is quite a big price difference from what Stephen says he paid.

Could someone comment whether the wavy ones are better than the normal looking ones? Does the shape have to do something with performance or is it just matter of design?

I know £455 is a lot but the oe from BMW inc pads cost £610! :eek:
