Front setup on R850R

A friend of mine has a 01 R850R with about 10k miles, he says that the front suspension on his 1972 Honda cb750 is better on bumpy roads - obviously this isn't set up correctly.

Can anyone suggest what to change to set up correctly.
Front suspension has no adjustment - what to check for here ?
Front forks ?? check/refill oil with recommended oil

Anyone with some advice would be handy.
Haven't driven the bike yet will do so at the weekend.

I used to have an R1150R a while ago, and if I remember well there is a way to adjust the front suspension, just like on the GS, with the special tool that looks like a big bottle cap opener. Ask your friend to check if there is not an adjustment thingy at the bottom of the front spring with different settings. I would start there.
