The front shock on my bike is gone.. Dropped it in to joe duffy for recall work and asked about shock, they said it'd be in around 450 euro to replace it. Only have the bike since Easter. Bought it with 800 km on the clock.. It now has 7800km.. Surely the shock should have lasted longer than this?! Never been offroad. Anyone else have problems with this? (r1200) gonna keep on bouncing for the time being as I just forked out for a motech trax topcase so can't afford to be speding any more on d bike for a while!

Bad luck Niall.
My GS needed new shocks around 30k miles and I went with Ohlins because I could get them for the same price as BMW shocks and the Ohlins are serviceable. Hope you get sorted!

Bummer.
Try a post in the Wanted section, you need a new one that someone keen took off a bike to fit after-market soon after buying the bike.
Or buy from Sherlocks / Motobins so if it is a dud, you can send it back.

Cheers for all the feedback. I'll give it a go next week when I've some time off.. Till then I'll keep riding the pogo stick...

Goodwill claim sent to BMW as bike is only 6 months out of Manufacturers warranty.

BMW agreed to pay for parts.

Part ordered.

Being fitted next week.

check sale section some nice sets for sale

i would say go for wilbers, have one in my dakar and its great,

was rated higher than the ohlins by any one i asked who had used both

All sorted..

Just back from joe duffy's. Dropped in for half an hour and they supplied and fitted the new shock for me for 50 quid.. Nice one.
