I've just taken the front wheel out of my 1150 GS to have the tyre changed and on checking the bearings have found them to be a dit 'notchy' when you spin them, they've done 23,000 miles.

There is no play in them at all and they rotate freely, except that you can feel a click maybe every 10th of turn, as if the bearing retaining cage is catching on something.

Anybody had bearings feel like this before? Difficult to descibe but I think I will change them anyway - unless 'they all do that'???

I'm surprised at them failing at this low mileage - maybe I'm being a bit paranoid?

The question is are they straight forward to change? The manual suggest you have to use a puller - is this true?

Are they a 'standard' sizes that I can get from a bearing suplier or is genuine BMW needed?

Any tips and advice greatfully recieved.

Thanks
