Front wheel removal tool?

Just planning for the inevitable puncture; and the guy says " I dont have a socket that will fit that mate"...

Definitely 22mm. Wouldn't be without mine - take my wheels off and take them to tyre fitter for new rubber. Then at least I can torque them up properly when I put the wheels back on. Most tyre fitting places haven't got a clue what the correct tyre pressures and torque settings should be. How many people actually check ?

I made a small batch off these from a length of 22mm hex stainless steel and some 22mm sockets. I cut the hex into suitable lengths, squared them up on the lathe and then braised them into the socket.

I have some sitting on my bench in the garage. If anyone wants one, drop me a pm with your address and I'll stick one in a jiffy bag. Let me know if you want 3/8" drive or 1/2" drive as I have some of both.

I may have missed something here! I'm already a Tosser, don't want to be an Idiot as well.
There is a double ended tube spanner in the toolkit of my '07 GSA that fits the front wheel spindle and does the job beautifully. Been there from new. The only slight snag is holding the front end up. Why the need to buy another? I've not had a problem with it at all blast) says he. Use it for general servicing and a recent flat.

Have to agree the spanner in the toolkit has always worked for me, cant see why you would need to go to the trouble of buying another tool or making something up from hex bar etc.

I know the toolkit was revised on later models and some items were removed, is that the issue?

Do I need to have a front wheel removal tool thingy?? I was thinking In case of a puncture when out somewhere, would the tyre guy have one already?

You are a bit of a tool You do not need to take the wheel off to fix a puncture ... the 1200's are tubeless - just learn how to plug and pump a tyre.

There isn't anything in my 06 tool kit...

This tool wasn't included in the "standard" tool kit when I bought mine ('05). I bought the full tool kit as an extra which included the box spanner, and this lives in the top box. I also bought a short bit of 22mm hex with a tork key welded into it, which lives under the seat, specifically so I have a better than even chance of removing the front wheel at a tyre place if the need arises.

There seemed to be loads of grief about how sparse the the standard toolkit was, so maybe BMW have improved this now?
