In France, wife fractured femur, now in hospital awaiting repatriation by plane. Not asked insurers yet but for all I know everything is dependent on completion of this form before arranging a special flight home.

Was finishing writing the full report of incident to insurers and finally AirDropping relevant photo from iPhone to iPad notice came up on screen “File size too large” then “AirDrop unsuccessful” then “Airdrop completed” (Oh, FFS) now screen frozen with the little wheel segments going around for the last 1/2 hour and notice saying ‘Saving data’. Unable to move forward or back, with another notice bottom of screen saying ‘Unhandled error has occurred, Reload’ (WTF is unhandled?) but pressing the attached Reload button has no effect at all, completely inert.

So, a forced restart or what? It says ‘Saving data’, well, has it even started or will I lose two hours’ work and do it all again? Yes, I’m fucking stressed.

Please can you help, completion of form has been requested at my earliest convenience 2 days ago.

Please?

I’d be inclined to telephone the insurance company. They may be able to confirm that the form arrived.
That would reduce your stress somewhat.
If it hasn’t arrived, ask the to go through it with you on the phone. It really is important to give them the information asap, especially if you’re gong to be shelling out for flights etc.

I hope that that is of some help. Good luck with it all.

Thanks for your level headed thinking, I’ll call them now. (y)

Hang on… there is hope … I went back to the iPad where I was completing the form (I’m writing this UKGSer message on my iPhone) and was changing screens to find the insurance company’s tel no. and when I unthinkingly pressed Page Back it went back just a few steps and allowed me to continue, and having lost just a couple of tick boxes, it carried on seamlessly over the site of the original problem and as far as I can see the problem has simply disappeared. It means that I do not have to rewrite all the stuff that took such a hell of a long time earlier … Oh thank fuck for that.

Thank you so much for your speedy reply, grateful for the feeling that I’m not totally alone in the Dordogne under the circumstances.

Thanks again.

Yup, all done and dusted. Submitted 40 minutes ago, complete with the photos that started all the grief, no problem at all this time.

Thank you all for your interest - just seen the emojis & thumbs up. And OnHellas of course. :thumb2 :bounce1

To be 100% sure I would still call the insurance company to ensure that they have everything they need to proceed?

Yes, all good - eventually. Won’t bore you with details but finally, at about 10pm france time we got the documents and certificates and medical history/treatment and blah blah through to the insurance company, phoned to check receipt and all was well. Now on hold with ins. co, waiting progress report as to situation re transport home, if private jet it should be OK but if a 1st class flight then trickier from where we are, Bergerac/ Dordogne. Just thought now - if a private jet, that could land at either Caernarfon Airport or at RAF Valley who handle civilian flights. We’ll see. Got to go.

PS Thanks

Fucking hell. They now want a photo of wifeand self(me) and flight reservations to and from France. I can’t send them, they just end up in the drafts file in my email account. Will this EVER end…..

Sorry, just needing to letoff steam.

John,
Keep calm
Split the attachments into multiple emails to keep the size small, it will make things easier.
Label each email as 1/6 2/6 etc so that if any email fails you can easily check it.

Best of luck to you and Mrs R

PS use whatever software on your Ipad to make the pictures smaller in size, this will help as well

Best of luck John to you an your wife. I know it's easy for all of us to say stay calm and everything will be alright ,but it will.

This is your 1st and hopefully last time going through the process ,the people your dealing with do this every day ,it's their job and they want the best for you and your wife so just go with them and assist them with whatever they need.
Take care

There’s worst places to be stuck than Dordogne

Hang around until she gets better
