Fuel cap stuck

Update, if anyone is interested. Since the initial problem, after cleaning it , I’ve opened it without fail every time. Turn off the bike and open immediately by pressing down at the front whilst lifting the lever.

Open it within 2 minutes of switching the bike off. After that it's a double pull -- pull up the tank flap while it searches for the key . Then release the flap half way and open again to open the flap.

From the manual :--
"The fuel filler cap can be
opened within the defined
waiting time after the ignition
has been switched off, without
the radio-operated key being
within range.
Waiting time for open-
ing the fuel filler cap
2 min
There are two variant ways
of opening the fuel filler cap:
Within the waiting time.

After the waiting time has ex-
pired.
Variant 1
Requirement
Within the waiting time
Slowly pull tab 1 on the fuel
filler cap up.
Fuel filler cap unlocks.
Fully open the fuel filler cap.
Variant 2
Requirement
After the waiting time has ex-
pired
Bring the radio-operated key
into range.
Slowly pull tab 1 up.
The indicator light for the ra-
dio-operated key flashes while
the search for the radio-oper-
ated key is in progress.
Slowly pull tab 1 on the fuel
filler cap up again.
Fuel filler cap unlocks.
Fully open the fuel filler cap"

I always press the front of the cap down a little while pulling the lever up, always done this since my first GS in 2019 and I've yet to have an issue. Although like my 2 1250's I used a small syringe to drip some ACF onto the pin to keep it nicely lubed. I repeat this every few months.

The keyless fuel cap behaves slightly differently on the 1300 compared to the 1250. (See my previous post or manual)

I use mine exactly the same as I did with my previous 2 1250’s, I’ve not noticed anything different with the operation of this one to be honest, except it clicks back in with a more satisfying click. But I’ll have a gander at the manual anyway :)

I’ve not had a problem since cleaning and spraying it with PTFE, though every time I pull up for petrol I wonder if it’ll open.
If you overfill it or spalsh petrol into the the area where the pin sits, the odds of it not opening increase tenfold ;)

Mine has just failed to open.....so off it comes with torx....what a faff!
Did you try switching the ignition back on & off, then try the fuel cap again?.
If it had timed out between switching off and trying to open the cap it would then need a double pull on the flap.

About 26 times. Then I pressed on the front and it opened. Added 3 in 1....

Can a Keyless fuel cap be changed out for the old fashioned key operated cap?

Serious question. I'm thinking about any future bike cursed with a keyless cap.
Very likely, but probably will show a fault on the dash. What I do know you can't factory order a bike with a key on the new GS.

I’ve had it on my S1000XR. When it does happen to you it’s hard to stay calm and not begin to wonder what you did wrong and why it won’t open? Cleaned it and gave it a spray and it seems to be okay. But then it was okay every other time before “that” time when it just wouldn’t open!!!!

Get the supplier to remove the pin that locks the cap......or grind it off with a Dremel.....ah, you can't do that unless it's closed, lol.
