Fuel consumption in Europe

Sounds like there's something wrong with yours. Get it booked in at your dealer.:rob

May be if I rode it like ENGINEER I could get 70MPG but I don't so 45MPG it is. If I mince about I can get 60MPG but at that speed I may as well just bicycle.
But you are right on one account it is in the dealers getting looked but not for the fuelling more the oiling.

Typical for me is around 210 miles per tank, my long term avg fuel con is at 48mpg after c2500miles
When out in spirited mode, it drops to around 38mpg or less and then get about 150 miles from a tank.
Tend to use Shell be it std or super unleaded whatever is available at the time at the pump.

That's the strange thing. When I was off the motorway, I was hooning the bike around, really stretching its legs, and was expecting poor mpg, but it didn't make any difference. As I've got the decat headers, I was expecting it to use more fuel, but that's made no difference whatsoever.:thumb

It's reading/recording in kilometres, you are really only getting 180 miles per tank.

Decat headers should make it breath easier, lower pumping losses, increased efficiency reduced fuel consumption. If it's been set up properly after the cats were removed then it will probably be running leaner as well unless cats have evolved since the early ones. They needed a richer mixture to work properly. Fuel economy on cars took a significant nose dive when cats were first introduced.

The computer still reads in miles, even though the Nav V is set to kilometres.:rob:thumb

Interesting point re the decat headers making it breathe easier. I'm not technical (burn the witch :D), but that would make sense, as the bike runs much better since changing the headers.:beerjug:

I having a strong suspicion that UK petrol stations charge us a gallon of fuel and deliver us a lesser amount.

There is a degree of variation allowed by trading standards and I bet the garages milk that to gain more margin.

I'd love Watchdog to look into that :-)

Full Akro, hill-topped, whilst away spirited riding 50-55mpg was the average i noticed @ 120 it drops down to 45mpg, i filled the tank whilst on the side stand so not fully brimmed and got 220 miles home with 21 miles left in the tank.

Seems strange that in Europe the petrol pumps never jump to 1p as they seem to do in the UK, i think there set to do this sometimes to play mind games so you than fill it a bit more to even it out .

Now then, theres a contradiction if ever I saw one. I had always been led to believe that you could have lower power and better MPG OR higher power and less MPG. I'd be seriously interested in getting both at the same time......

I have a strong suspicion you are half a pint short of the full gallon.
