Fuel countdown

Welcome to the wonderful world of the BMW fuel guage!

The good news is they have at least reverted back to a float design after the disaster of the digital strip on the later 1200 Hexheads.
Best advice is to run it as low as possible before filling up, this seems to make it more consistent & wises you up on how far you can push it.
Set the trip & work on 200 miles before looking for fuel ... 250 miles can be acheived on the twin cam at a push - I guess the WC is much the same if not better? :thumby:

On a steady run to the Cotswolds a round trip of 280 miles the gauge was averaging 64 mpg having set it before the ride and all on one tank of fuel.

What's it like on V power, as I've just been using normal unleaded 95, as per the recommendation?

Sorry McNutty I pretty much always use one of the premium fuels in my vehicles so can't really say. It's the norm

BTW did you know I'm the marketing mans dream consumer:bounce1

The Telegraph's Honest John says

"My advice is to use Shell V-Power petrol or BP Ultimate diesel. Its additive package definitely makes it far superior to any fuel from a supermarket. Most fuelling system problems reported to me are by readers who have been using supermarket fuels"

and did you know

Shell V-Power Nitro+ unleaded contains 99% the same types of compounds found in the Shell V-Power race fuel being used by Scuderia Ferrari in the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship. You could run the Scuderia Ferrari F138 Formula One car on Shell V-Power Nitro+ Unleaded road car fuel - and you could run an unleaded road car on the Shell V-Power Formula One fuel.

You see my white GSWC is one of the fastest ones out there :clap

:D Maybe I'll try super on the next fill up, and see if I notice any difference:beerjug:

Hmmm I can only get about 160-170 from a fill up?

That said, most of my milage is commuting in and out of london :nenau

Sound about right?

Been out today and between fills 50 MPG. tank range about 235 miles which for me is great.

I'd think in and out of London you would see about that if not a little more, I've only done just over 2k miles but the fuel consumption seems to be getting a little better...

Filled up with vpower today, couldn't notice any difference :nenau:blast
