Fuel filter saga continues

Yes, you have to remove the tank
(to connect/disconnect the connector on the frame side)

Can't tell you if it is difficult (don't know you skills)
Or how much work it is (never replaced myself)

Is it in fact a length of wiring loom that goes from the ignition to somewhere under the tank? Do I need to remove the tank? ETC
Anybody else able to answer.... I am no mechanic but I am not useless either, I have done valves, filters, and simple electrical faults before on previous bikes...

My wife’s R1100R had a similar fault but cut out when doing slow speed manoeuvres. I gave the cable going to the ignition switch a slight pull and it came away in my hand. The wires had been breaking up for some time by the look of them.
The difficult part is removing the screw that holds the switch to the ignition barrel. For security reasons it does not have a socket or head. I removed the top yoke and drilled it out.
It would have been possible to repair the wires by soldering but I already had the part before starting the repair.
So before doing anything drastic make sure you are at home or outside the BWM dealer and give the ignition wires a slight pull.
If this is your problem its likely that one if not all of the will be free.

All the cables are connected and working. Its the mechanism when turning the key which is at fault so I'll have to change the wjole thing. Then hopefuly that'll be the end of my problems. Including the lumpy running I was complaining about....

Feels like a new bike, the bike is as smooth as it was prior to the fuel filter saga and the surging is back to normal YIPEE....
