Hi again,
I notice that there are quite a few people having problems with their fuel gauge not indicating full (10 bars on the gauge), despite being full to the brim.

My new 1150 had this problem, but it didn't particularly bother me.

However, I just changed the fuel filter and I noticed that the bottom of the float arm (right next to the potentiometer/rheostat/sender thingy) was being stopped by the steel fuel pipe rather than the plastic stop on the sender.

I CAREFULLY bent the steel pipe until it was no longer interfering with the float arm. I now get all 10 bars.

Maybe this will help someone, or maybe it's common knowledge already...

Whatever, please don't blame me if you crack or kink your steel pipe - I did write "CAREFULLY". ;)

Cheers,

Ian

Mine is diong this. Bloody annoying it is. Don't particularly wan't to pull the tank to bits to remidy it though! :blast

Mine does it... sometimes.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. why should it. it doesn't stay full very long.

I rely:

1. on the odo. which I reset at every refuel.

and

2. on the warning light.. soon as that comes on I think about refuelling. I have around 40 miles of fuel left..

as soon as I see the words 'carefully' or worse: 'CAREFULLY' I think.. no thanks.

Fuel guage

Guys if you pull of the plastic cover on the right hand side of the bike under the tank you will find a male to female plug. Squirt wd40 in it. This sometimes fixes the issue with th efuel bar display. I am sure its in the font of all wisdom.

I'm not the slightest bit concerned about the accuracy of the "full" reading ( i know it's full when i've just filled it :D) , it's the "empty" reading that's important, and by bending "stuff" you could alter it. :D

Absolutely agree - however it seems that several folks need to know the difference between "brim-full" and "a few litres down" - just tryin' to help :augie
