On sunday i filled the tank on my new 650 gs,and 160 miles later, the gauge had not moved,i know these bikes are good on fuel, but not that good.
In the manual, it tells you not to fill the tank past the bottom edge of the filler neck, but its hard to see in the tank,if you put to much fuel in the tank does it not register correctly, haveing looked over this forum im surprised at the amount of problems people have had with these bikes,it also cut out three times when i stopped at junctions, ive only had it just over a week.

I've got an 800, but it's essentially the same, and I allways fill mine til it can take no more. Mine doesn't do that, but I have ridden mine to 0 miles, and it took .45 litres more than the tank holds! The stalling was an issue fixed with a software upgrade, if yours is new, that should have been done?

If you look at the gauge at the moment, doesn't it say ">140" or something? One quirk of these bikes is that they display that (or similar) from a full tank until you hit that 140 miles remaining, then it starts counting down.

I'd assumed he was looking at the fuel guage, not the miles til you push!

Stalling, should be fixed by software.
The fuel gauge, I have had my fuel sensor replaced under warranty about 6mth ago. The first sensor did not move till 1/2 way empty, the second, no different.

On the trip computer it will say >140ml (140 miles + left) till you have less than 140 miles left in the tank, the fuel gauge will also not move till it is half way empty. Further the fuel light (far left side of the dash) will turn on when I have 70-65km left according to the 'distance to travel' on the trip computer.

enjoy

had my 800 4 weeks and fuel remaining after fill up has never shown more than 115 mls, doesn't use any petrol for ages :augie and then suddenly decides its time to ;)

So bike has a minor "fault" already then :blast :blast :blast

Had a GS1150 back in 2002 guess what the first fault with that pile of **** was :hide The 2nd prob was the ABS failed, the 3rd the...... :blagblah

fuel gauge

Mine is exactly the same,115 miles showing, then after about 160 miles the fuel gauge starts going down, strange system, ithought it was faulty but thats
how they work.

Mine says >105 miles, then eventually it starts going down. This shouldn't be a problem though.
