It is probably very simple but ............

My fuel light bulb does not work!, i assume it will just mean replacing the bulb. but having had a quick look and not having access to a workshop manual of any kind, how do i get access

Do i just stick my hand up (oo er missus) and have a good feel around and hope, or is there some other way

Cheers  Adrian

Hi Adrian,
It's fairly straightforward. Just remove the screen, then remove the 2 screws holding the silver instrument cover. The bulbs are in small rubber holders which are just a push fit in their respective holes behind the warning lamps - you could quickly check the "blown" fuel lamp by swapping it into a holder that is known to be good - ie neutral lamp?. there are two wattages of lamp used depending on brightness required for that warning lamp- but either is probably ok for the fuel?. If your bike is NON-abs you'll be able to use the abs lamps as "spares" because lamps are fitted in these even if unused!
It's probably not impossible to access them underneath if neccessary? but for all the time it takes to remove screen etc it's not worth it - it may even be easier if you drop the headlamps out to see what yuour doing?

you'll have to check the wire coming from the tank that turns it on for 12v when low on fuel. can't be more specific, no schematic handy.

if there's nothing there, it'll be the sender in the tank. some people have had sucess with sorting out the guage part of the sender by putting more expensive fuel in :nenau
