Fuel light

On my 2002 r850r, the low fuel light does not come on, and the other day I ran out of fuel. Is it suppose to light up for a short while when you turn the ignition on ? If so it could just be the bulb and the first thing to check before I delve deeper.

You can live without it. Just do some MPG sums and use your trip.

I don't believe there is a lamp test on the dash - certainly not on mine, anyway. Here's the wiring diagrams: LINKY

I have 99 r850r and I had to replace a few bulbs this year. It could just be that.

I usually do go by the trip meter and top up around the 170 mile mark. But it would still be nice to have it as a back up. Probably check the bulb first then.
