fuel pump controller - 1614 7 719 844 £49.41 (4 revisions up from model on my bike)

ews thingy - c61 35 705 247 £38.70 (new ones - 247 - are a lot cheaper, must be a volume / margin trade off)

I am thinking that this is clever marketing by BMv, they clearly have issues with these items, but rather than issue a recall they can placate out of warranty owners by offering the spares at cheaper prices.

Nippy ought to start offering them mail order, he'd make a mint.

Hi
The EWS thingy, do you mean £83.70:nenau:nenau:nenau

I bought one today from Bahnstormer - the "-247" number version. It was not as cheap as the promised 38.70, but was only 10p more. I figured now that BMW had halved the price I could afford a spare.

As a PS and a thumbs up for Bahnstormer - I arrived at 6pm as they were closing and heading off home, however, the parts chap cheerfully (at least on the face of it!) got back on his computer and sorted me out - a nice touch as I also have a yamaha and I'm sure my yamaha dealer would have told me to f off if I'd got there anywhere near to closing.

fate

the latest ews are now £38

thoughht I'd get both before tour mid june (30k + miles no probs but coming up to second post warranty year)

1 on shelf in bristol - got there it had gone (got the ews thing so can confirm the price), sun was out so thought home via forest of deam wye valley usk

guess what happened on the M5

recovered to home, two units on order

Ah ... so the £83 odd that I paid by credit card for the fuel pump thingy will instead be charged at £38 odd when it finally arrives...

Does anyone believe this will happen without me prompting? Call me cynical...

And if BMW can slash the cost why don't they go the whole hog and do a proper fix and get it retro-fitted instead of having the ridiculous situation of every GS owner knowing to watch out for dodgy BMW fuel pump thingies.

Interesting story from my dealer on the new Ring Antenna (247). Apparently, the previous updates (4 I think) were not what they seemed. It appears that if BMW changes the supplier they change the part number. So the previous 'upgrades' were not that at all - just different suppliers.:blast

The new one is supposed to be a proper re-designed 'fix' for this problem. Time will tell!

price for the ews thing was £47.59 included vat and security bolts

You all might like to know that BuMW have slapped a 64% increase on the new load just imported into the country as the UK stocks had run out

New price £76.94

Thieving opportunistic BASTARDS :spitfire

Fuel Pump and EWS Part Numbers and Prices

Sorry to hear of the price "increase" in the UK. Bloody cheek!
BTW....in comparison, the price of the new EWS "247" ring at a dealer in Ontario Canada is $121.00 CDN andthe "312" Fuel Pump is $196.00 CDN. Meantime, at the exact same time in the USA the same part numbers sell for respectively $82.40 USD and $97.60 USD. The two currencies are basically at par. So....... the EWS ring is $38.16 more expensive in Canada while the Fuel Pump is $98.40 MORE expensive FOR THE EXACT SAME PART NUMBER!!!!! Cheer up mates cause it is an even worse the markup in Mexico! It's enough to drive you to drink or worse.:jes

Does that price include VAT?

I'm in next Friday for my 2 year annual service, and was going to order both parts, Fuel Pump Controller, and Ring Antenna.

Depending on the price of the service, which they cant give me a quote for, because they say they've changed to Castrol oils, i may have to only order one part now.

Spoke to Alan Jeffries to resolve FPC failure and to order part. They have none in stock and wont have until mid October 2008.

The part number is changing which (I would guess) means that the part has been modified in some way...I might be wrong of course:o

Still, over 3 weeks without the bike or means of transport, not good :(

The Service manager has said that he'll try to sort something out and get back to me. Other dealers are hanging onto their stocks of this part to take care of their own customers (rightly so). And (quite obviously and understandably) they can't whip it off a bike in the showroom if it's going to be 3 weeks before they get a delivery of the new FPC :(

Many thanks wilbjr21 for your very kind and thoughtful jesture :thumb Top Tosser :thumb I am, however, sorted (or very nearly) :clap:clap

Alan Jeffries have really stepped up to the mark on this one and got me one of the new FPC's. BMW are also paying for it (supplying it FOC) which brilliant :thumb

Alan Jeffries - great dealers :thumb And many thanks to Mike for getting my bike back on the road :thumb :beerjug:

The difference between the all new FPC (on the left) and the one that doesn't work (on the right, off an 06 GSA). Thye look pretty much exactly the same apart from the powder coat finish. At least they powder coated it the right colour and not pink or silver or something like that :augie
