Fuel pump controller -- low instances of failure

From what I've read so far there's only one recorded failure of the fuel pump controller on the HP2

whereas it's a common problem on the 1200GS/GSA. Any ideas why this is?

Tank is that small it runs out of fuel before any problems can develop
