Fuel Pump Controllers again...!

There is no recent re-design. Early contollers have a different fin pattern to the later ones - but this was done ages ago.

Hi Bob

I think you are referring to the early 2006 redesign, p/n 161 476 949 99.

Earlier this year a revised part was introduced, p/n 161 477 198 44. At this time many dealers were temporarily out of stock of either part and bikes were off the road for up to two weeks.

Ever optimistic, I am hoping this new part might be an improvement :thumb or even a total fix :beerjug: so I took the panel off my GSA to check which version I have on my bike which was mended, I think, in June. But the only number stamped on the FPC is 7694378, so I'm no wiser.

Yes Tim that's the one I was thinking of.

Thanks for your efforts on this (massive) problem by the way ..... we live in hope.

I can't tell you what's written on the one on my '08 bike, as it's at the dealers for it's 12,000 mile service, but the replacement for the one that I used on the WoBMW bike is the new part number ......... so hopefully I've got a good spare. :thumb

If it's any help p/n 161 477 198 44 (my spare) has the number 7694378 stamped on it - below that 3 - and below that 58 20 007 11. So you may be ok.

latest part no.

The person within BMW that I have been communicating with has indicated that the FPC has changed in part number a few times in the last four years, the most recent being the last week in August 2008.
