Hi there

Im new in this forum after the purchase of a brand new GS1200 a year ago:D. (It is a 2009 model)
After reading all the stories about failures and what to do i fell over a workaround if my FPC failed . In the video it explaines the removal of a fuel pump cover first before you get to the controller. This cover is also shown in my Haynes manual.
It is however not installed on my 1200GS. Is that a fault or do they not use them anymore on newer models ?

Looking forward to hear from You.

Don't worry.

New ones do not have them fitted. Saves BMW a few pounds (Euros) on each one.

Roger.

Thanks Roger

I then guess the cover has no influence on the fpc failure. Maybe the cover stopped the water from comming out again after it has come through the vent-holes. It might be better if the fpc are left open for faster drying.

08 onwards is not supposed to suffer from FPC failure because it has been re-designed. It sits at an angle on the newer bikes so the water doesn't pool round it meaning it doesn't corrode and doesn't leak. I gave mine a spray with some ACF50 just to be sure but they don't seem to break either way.
