Fuel Pump Noise?

having just acquired my 2002 GS I notice that there is what i can best describe as a whining/electrical motor noise coming from under fuel tank, it is particularly noticeable at tickover and low speed. Is this the fuel pump? Is this normal? can't say I've been aware of this noise on other bikes I looked at. thanks.

My '99 1100GS done the same, its probably the fuel pump or ABS. They all do that Sir, don't worry!

It sounds like the high pressure fuel pump - a feature that has been relatively uncommon until the recent marketing of bikes with fuel injection.

The noise is louder when there is little fuel in the bike.
