Fuel pump whine

Just an aside. Since you ride an 1150, it has servo brakes. The pump for them makes a similar whine. With the bike running, squeeze the brake lever slightly & note if you hear the servo pump starting. If you do not, it may be that your servo motor is running continuously. ( Brake sw. out of adjustment)

It's not the servo noise, thats always been there and still is now I 'fixed' it. it was much louder and filling the tank made no difference. I never heard it before and hopfully I'll never hear it again (as long as I don't start fettling with it again).

+1... my old 1100 (42000 miles) did it always, and noisily, and never failed.

Used to worry me, I just got used to it.

Eventually, thicker ear plugs solved the problem.

I too had an old 1150 before my current one and it too was quiet, but like you my new current 1150 does make a louder noise.

I'm not overly worried about it.

Now that I'm on my second 1150GS I'm getting used to 'characterful' noises!
