Fuel Pump?

Hi folks, some advise if you can?
While on a trip up north at the weekend, I was let down ( luckily at the bottom) of the Belach Na Ba and had to be relayed home
Bike was faultless up to then (R1150 GS) just stopped waiting for a mate , then turned ignition on and the normal humming noise of the pump i take it? Was replaced by a sort of not very happy whirring noise ! Bike fired up and promptly cut out , and would not start again, again the noise was not as it should be when turning ignition on! I'm thinking the fuel pump ?

Also what are the types of hose clamps called and anyone have a link at all where to get them ? Not keen on jubilee clips . Will replace filter as well.

You can get hose clips from Motor Works- http://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=15&M=30&Ct=FA&SbCt=BA_15_30_FA_60 . I find that clips fit better if you shorten the bolt as they can catch on the tank when installing the pump carrier plate.

Thanks , ordered up the filter and bits from Moto bins, they had the clip on hose clamps and the above ones , so have ordered a few of each as will have a fair amount of pipes to seal/clamp again. As for the pump have went with fuel performance one.

The "U" shaped hose is a common failure point and will produce your symptoms if it is leaking. Replace all of the hoses, filter, and sock filter in your tank with properly immersion-rated fuel hose. Regular hose for the vent hoses. Rubber immersed in gasoline is not a lifetime item. Roger04rt has a nice thread with photos about this on advrider.

I've been following the thread and had the same thoughts. My hoses had ruptured yet looked fine to the eye. I'd had the tank open for a couple days before realizing that my good hoses were sweating fuel.
