Fusebox

Hello,

I managed to blow up the powerlet fuse on R1200GS Adv 2009.

I searched through the manual and looked around the battery and couldn't find the fusebox.

Where is that located?


I connected a 12v compressor to powerlet and I believe the 5A fuse specified in the book for powerlet is too small for my compressor.

You are looking for something that does not exist.

The 1200GS range does not have a fusebox as such. It's entire electrical system is one giant fuse box, controlled by the Canbus system.

The Canbus system is limited to a maximum draw or load of 5 amps. Your compressor drew more than five amps, so the Canbus system failed to safety and closed down the power to wherever you plugged the compressor into.

You are now faced with two choices:

(1) Attach your compressor directly to the battery, using crocodile clips. This will, for obvious reasons, miss out the bike's Canbus system completely.

If you do this you WILL need a suitable fuse of say 7.5 or 10 amps in line.

(2) Connect the compressor to the bike's own electrical system but via a relay.

PS On the 1200GSA version there are two specific fuses (5 amp) that feed the bike's spotlights.

In my reply I have assumed you did not blow the 5 amp fuse in one of their products.

I ordered a powerlet female to put there and I will add a 10A fuse inline.
