FYI: Censorship in German Wikipedia: BMW Integral-ABS

They didn't censor you, they rumbled you as a shit stirrer who constantly avoids the main issues and was therefore unable to substantiate your claims.

No. It's not possible. These brakes passed type approval.

Hmmmmmm ..

I'm not at all sure that I believe you.

Many bikes and cars in Britain have been recalled for safety issues. And they all had Type Approval.

It makes little sense that German Transport authorities can't do exactly the same. It beggars belief that the Germans don't have a similar system in place.

Why?

Was it because there was a fault (bearing in mind that there was a two year investigation by the German government that failed to declare the system dangerous)?

Or was it because the impression given by individuals like Nemezis with the worlds largest chip on their shoulders caused others to be concerned when there was really no need?

Nemezis has consistently avoided and fudged answers to questions as to the circumstances of alleged incidents. He refused to answer several queries as to why he thought the investigation found no evidence of dangerous systems. And he has deliberately left out details of the so-called dangerous brake failures.

The truth is that servo brakes are probably over complicated for use on bikes, and that repeated heavy use of the servo brakes on the GS can cause some battery drain issues....... the reported case being of a bike used in off-road rider training which would have had constant stop-start braking well in excess of what most of us would normally require on road.

If the brakes were dangerous, BMW would have been forced to recall bikes with them fitted by the German government. As it is, deliberate misinformation spread by Nemezis (who has also constantly declined to explain exactly why he is so concerned with this issue) and others has forced BMW to change their systems rather than lose market share.

It's certainly proof that people power can work, but it's also proof that some idiots will believe anything that they read on the internet.

I dont care about all of the above. It seemed to me he was the only one voicing these concerns on as many forums as he could find and therefore educating B*W riders. I dont care if he has the biggest chip of the world on his shoulder. At least he was a voice out there. This guy has taken it up to a different level and i appreciate that. I dont want to have his children but the fact remains that B*W have modified/changed their ABS system whether it had a direct/indirect link to Nemezis's rantings i am glad he was ranting. Motorbikes are dangerous enough because of other road users ignorance of us as legitimate road users, we dont need dodgy brakes making things worse for us. Yes he did go on and on but in a situation like this that is what it takes to make these companies listen. Very easy for Goliath to dismiss David as a small inconsequential voice that can be blown away in the wind. History has shown that sometimes one voice constantly being voiced can change things.

The ABS system has changed and i hope that it has been a step forward and improved on the old one as some people here seem to have had problems with it. If you dont want to listen put him on your ignore list. Nemezis is not perfect but who on this site is.....

.....apart from all the moderators and Paul BHT:bow

Nemezis is not perfect but who on this site is.....

Nemezis is at least annoying to some people. :D

Anyway back to the subject. I failed to write an article about the BMW Integral-ABS (FTE & Conti Teves) at the EN Wikipedia. The GER Wikipedia Community engaged the censors there, too. I won't try to write another article (in english) again because in the end it migtht be censored anyway.

The only source anywhere in the world to get all the information in one article is now here:

(1) http://verbrechen.wordpress.com/der-fall-bmw-motorrad-integral-abs/

«Integral-ABS» (PDF, 148 KB)

This Blog might be subject to German censorship, too. The first blog was shut down today. But there's an independent and very professional motor-journalist in Germany (usually involved in sports-cars like Porsche) who pubished the artice some days ago, it will last there (forever):

(2) http://www.motor-kritik.de/common/07011804.HTM

Due to the fact that the number of problems with the brakes will rise in the next 10 years there might be need to grab that information there, even when it's written in a foreign language. Any lawyer might get a translator for trial.

In the end - I am no more engaged in the subject.

Don't see what the fuss is all about. I've never had the abs kick in and I can stop the bike really quick without it. I remember the brakes on old bikes and nobody really said they were dangerous!!!. The brakes stop the bike when they need to so not really bothered. It may be the riders that are dangerous more than the brakes. If the BM brakes can't stop you hitting something then I would guess that you are unlucky because of some moron pulling out in front of you, or you should have been looking further up the road.
I don't see guys with servo brakes falling off all over the place due to faulty brakes and mines a non servo bike so all in all where's the problem?
