hi there just looking for some honest advice from those that know !!!!!

Here's the 64 million dollar question 2 bikes both GSA 1200 same spec same mileage nothing between them condition wise apart from £750 in the asking price because one is a 2009 the other a 2010 with the twin cam engine

Is there such a big difference in the engines performance that not what if you had the choice it would have to be the 2010 regardless of money or is there bugger all in it

But then again, like any GS purchase choice.....you really REALLY need to go and test ride them.

Then you'll buy the TC.

+1 twin cam much better bike I had an 08 then a tc and would say it's what it needed more oomph

I'd go for the TC which has the edge on performance. Saying that, the 09 is still and very good bike and it may suit you better and is of course a wee bit cheaper.

Test ride them both then decide.

Currently have a GSA1150 made the fatal mistake of having a go on my mates new to him 2009 GSA1200 and the experience was to say the least light years ahead in all departments and now wish to move over to the dark side been looking around at the dealers today and found a very nice 2009 with all the bells n whistles and was very tempted don't know how I managed to walk out with out buying it to be honest other than the nagging in the back of my head for the sake of £750 to £1000 should I opt for the TC consensus of opinion would be TC any further comments most welcome but I think I've made my mind up

Out of interest, was the twin cam only introduced on the 2010 bikes, or did some of the late 2009 bikes also have it?

Until you ride the LC they just got to sort out all the little faults but boy that engine is sweet almost like a sports bike

Mlk 2 (2008-2009) has problems with paint quality. For just £750 more it's a no brainer. Get the TC.

I have a 2010 single cam (must have been one of the last). Never been on the twin cam but after reading this thread I’m wondering how much the difference is.
I am very satisfied with the bike. I suppose ignorance is bliss. (untill I read this..)

Mine's a 2010 registered single cam as well...... It's had the hilltop treatment, which gives it a bit more oomph


I'm also very satisfied with what I've got

When you've perfected it an you do the same with my 06 adv,
Ps have had wc bikes twice and both times couldn't get on with the gearboxes, might have been my motocross boots and the lever being in the wrong place but the amount of false neutrals I hit was a touch unnerving to say the least, great engine though.

My 2008MU GSA is still mint, whereas your bike was a rusting heap, yet they both came off the same production line at roughly the same time. They put your paint on too thinly for some reason or the prep was bad. If it wasn't that, then the original owner didn't take good care of it.

Buy any GS model based (mainly)on condition not miles on the clock.

Agreed that the TC is a much nicer engine and worth paying a little more over the single cam model.

Well folks the deed has been done I have joined the dark side sold the old 1150gsa for a 1 owner 2011 1200gsa all ive got to do now is tell the mrs !!!

The paint finish is no better on any of the later bikes,I have a 2010 twin cam in the workshop at the moment,it's stripped back to the bare engine to refinish the engine/ gearbox,all the frame parts have needed blasting and coating,I don't think the bike had ever been cleaned prior to me stripping it,and it must have lived outside,it will be nice when it's finished!
