took full advantage of the great offers around on the autocom and bought the 200 system. i made sure that i also got the bluetooth adaptor and the lead for the 2610. but when i plug in the lead coming from the garmin (which is the power lead with the plug socket) i just bget a buzzing when im supposed to be hearing sound.

any sugestions as to what i can try?

Hi FBF,

I've not got that particular set up myself, but from what I've read and past experiences there are three things I'd suggest:

1. Use the Aux 3 socket on the Autocom to plug the GPS lead into.
2. If the buzzing is worse when the engine is running, and rises in pitch with the throttle then you may need to get an Autocom Isolator (Part 1282 but check when you order).
3. I've had a couple of Streetpilot 2610's and in both cases I had to replace the power/audio cable due to the audio malfunctioning. The best fix is to solder the audio wires directly together and bypass the socket/jack alltogether.

Have you eliminated all other sources for the Buzzing, ie does it only go away when you unplug the jack to the 2610? You could also try plugging in a speaker directly into the 2610 to see if that buzzes too.

HTH,

Mike

thanks for the reply SF, the sound wourks fine when i put it in my car, the buzzing isnt what i would call engine related its actually more of a case of zero sound just a clicking buzz instead of the directions voice. i tried unplugging each other item but it made no diffrencve, my ipod works without any buzzing as does the phone. i cant remember if im plugged in to aux 3 but i will give that a go too. im sure i folloewd the instructions and they told me where each thing should be plugged in

try holding, wiggling the jack in the socket (garmin end) mine was dodgy from day 1, a crap connection no sound at all. i cut the jack n plug out soldered them together and job done. it seems this is the no1 cause of no sound on the 2xxx series.

The chances are you are running the wrong leads, you will need to add our Parts 1285 and 1294 to get you correctly connected. If you still get interference from there it will be down the cabvle routing along the bike itself

Hi rich thanks for the reply do i take it you represent autocom? if so its the second intercom system ive had and its superior in every way plus half the cost!

i have part 1294 but cant see why i would need 1285 which i assume is a splitter? or do i need to split aux 1 with the bluetooth module and the garmin as they both need to be powered?

any help much appreciated

Yeh I work for Autocom and I try and post on here as much as poss. So parts wise if you were to use the Part 1294 just by itself you will get a ground loop due to lead not containing any isolation. So everytime the GPS is used you will hear all of the bikes interference being carried thru the lead. You would just hear the GPS over the HT ticking and alternator whine. This is where the Part 1285 comes into effect it cleans up the signal so the GPS prompts will be nice and clean and no interference when she is not telling you you are getting lost lol

hey thanks rich im glad you are online. my last system was called an intergratr and it was ok but the customer service was seruiously pointless. took them 12 weeks to sort out a lead for my 2610 and then they gave up and stopped replying to my emails.. i now spend every spare moment writing bad reviews for them anywhere i can...

so dont mess with me autocom... im spiteful.. :spitfire:augie

lol I think you will find we do things right here and I try and keep an eye on this forum most days to help peeps get sorted.
