Had a LC R1200GS for a bit now. Have used the power port in the dash to do a few things like charge a phone, small bits.

Had a puncture today at home, and figured I'd fix it like on the road, for practice -- I have the Airman Tour compressor, which I often saw recommended for bikes. Not a sausage - it spun up for a slit second once or twice, but it seems the OEM power socket in the dash by the windscreen knob doesn't power it.

The compressor works fine from a car - tested it a few times.

Am I missing something?

Sounds like it takes more power than the socket will supply. Anything over 5a and the power is cut. Wire a socket to the battery as most do.

Aye, looks like it actually - now that I look at nippy normans description it does mention that. Will see if I can grab a quick and dirty socket, even if it lives under the seat for emergencies. Cheers!

I got a Rocky Creek MotoPressor pump from Australia. The instructions make specific reference to BMW Canbus and that it won't work with it. They suggest connecting direct to the battery with supplied leads.
