Came across this site whilst aimlessly surfing the web. I haven't tried any of the maps yet but thought some of you may find it useful. http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/

Interesting site indeed. But I am lacking som VERY basic info to understand what it is all about. And since I couldn't figure out how to post questions on that site I'm posting my question here;

What is a .img map file? How do I get that file into MapSource?

Or maybe I should ask - where can I read about the basic and trivial things I need to know to understand the relation between the "GPS MAPS" available at this site and my StreetPilot 3+ ?

Wow.....there's some stuff to play with there!!!

Ireland topographic map anyone????

:D :D

I downloaded several maps from this website including Melbourne (Australia) and Hong Kong.

I found a utility called "Sendmap" that will export to a Garmin device via USB and this works with my Quest.

I can view maps on the Quest, select Waypoints etc.. and export the Waypoints, Tracks and Routes back to MapSource on my PC.

The .IMG files only make sense to a Garmin GPS device, you need some more stuff to make it work in MapSource on a PC.

You cannot upload Maps from Quest to MapSource, and I have not worked out how to create the necessary files or Registry values necessary, but there are lots of utilities that claim to do this.
