How do i set my interface option to "Garmin" or "Host" on my 2610.

I am having problem with my pc not recognising it when plugged into a usb port.

I have down loaded my device drives but no luck.

I got this error message.

"Some devices were found, however non have the necessary capabilities"

Any advice or help would be great.

I have a 2720 that I assume is close enough to the 2620. I don't think the interface has to be set to "Garmin" like on the streetpilot III+. I have found IN have to load something (waypoints, routes, etc.) from the device to the PC, or it goes TU and crashes Mapsource.

Like the 2720 you can't attach the 2610 and look at the internal file structure (like a USB drive) as you can with the later 2820, Zumos and Nuvi models.

All you can do is send/retrieve to/from the device using 'send to device' or 'retrieve from device' in Mapsource, Map Install and Basecamp.

You need to ensure that you have the Garmin USB drivers installed and a good quality USB cable.

There are some other 3rd party programs that can send to a 2610 but nothing that can be used to read the drive as it were. Additionally you can send mapping products using the command line but that's not for the faint hearted.

you also realize that the 2610 is usb 1 only, you would be better off putting the memory card into a card reader and into a usb 2 port, that way you can send info to the card at more than twice the data rate.

Forgot that it had a CF card, scrub my bit about not being able to read the memory (at least the bit for your mapping data). Too many headaches with my 2720 has clouded my thinking on that.

I believe that routes, POIs etc are stored in internal memory though.
