Garmin Traffic GTM12 antenna.

It plugs into the USB socket that is in the wiring loom, not the one on the bracket or unit itself.

That's correct for the bike mount, but for the car mount it plugs in around the back of the bracket.

On the bike I leave it rolled up in my tank bag along with the rest of the harness and it works fine.

I've had one for a couple of years, but for this price I've bought another to save remembering swapping between the car and bike.

Works fine on the Zumo 550 as well, in case anyone didn't realise this. :thumb2

Plugs into the mount.

I think that's it registering with the sat nav. As I understand it, once this is done it'll only work with that GPS and not be transferable to another.

I don't think this is true, I use mine across 3 different GPSs and what you are probaly seeing is the GTM12 software being updated via the GPS - :thumb

Don't think so Chas - don't go giving Garmin ideas.....:blast

I've currently got the NavIV in the car, using the GTM 21 from my nuvi 760.

Oh, OK. My mistake. That's good news, thanks. I got the impression from an eBay buyer's question when trying to sell my GTM10. He stated that the were locked to the unit once allowed to boot, wanted to know if mine had been used. Decided after that not to bother selling it.

The GTM12 from the user kel4jon4ev on eBay is the best £10 impulse buy I've ever bought. Fitted it to my Zumo 660 today, some sort of software update occurred and now the traffic reports are there. :thumb

I notice that there is a new icon to press on the upper right corner. Touch that and two options appear, one for the traffic view screen, the other is to search for traffic near you.

One delivered on Tuesday, tried tested working in the car on my 660 :beerjug: so just ordered another to put permanently on my bike. Only 4 left so be quick :bounce1 :bounce1 :bounce1 :type

Just ordered one myself after the praise it received here.....

The last cable I had (a GTM21) kept shutting the unit down......

Just got one too. My original one that's permanently on the bike was a tenner from Ebay a year ago, so I thought I'd get one for the car as well. Different seller now, but there are still a few around.

Ordered it Thur, arrived today, works great, no software, just plug it in an it downloaded some update through the GTM 12 antenna, and worked straight away. £11.99 from kel4jon4ev on ebay

YOO HOO:beerjug:

cant find this item at this price on fleabay at the mo'...
any chance of the item number or a link...ta muchly:)

I ordered 2 last week which arrived today, one for the cage and one for the bike. I had heard talk that the aerial wouldn't pick up a signal through the Ford heated windscreen, but it seems to be working fine. I will be installing the other on the bike this weekend. Thanks for the heads-up.

Antenna Positioning

Mine arrived the other day, chuffed to bits for a tenner !! Question is, the antenna wire........will it affect the unit's performance to receive a decent signal if the wire gets positioned around the GPS centre consol mounting bar. Just thought it may look tidier ! open to ideas.

Connected it all up today.. Because i have it connected to the battery the socket is under the tank just behind the snorkel and routed through and up to bottom right of screen, if that makes sense .
Worked a treat today...Best value out of £10 in a long time..:clap

I've got the wire loosly looped under the silver top plate below the screen, plastic shouldn't affect reception and it's out of the way and neat.
