Garmin Zumo / 26xx-29xx security screw

The Zumo is designed specifically so that the unit can't come off until the catch is pressed up. This is never going to happen unless it's flicked up by hand, given it's spring loaded. Chances off it coming off accidentally are zero unless the mount is faulty.

Yes the security screw was useless at providing any sort of security, but having a turn knob there is even worse - and it does nothing to secure the Zumo better.

There are too many who need to stand back and look at what they are buying. You haven't convinced me that it does anything period, but good luck selling it to the Touratech bling-bling muppets that don't bother asking the question.

Hi Snoopy, I've managed to knock my catch up when turning the ignition on or off, so it's not foolproof, or then again, maybe I'm just a clumsy

The "security" screw just prevents this kind of ham-fistedness occurring and just might prevent vibration or shocks opening an incorrectly closed catch.

Personally, I don't have an Touratat equipment on my bike and I don't think I have any bling either, just what I see as practical modifications and add-ons to aid comfort and control for myself and my passenger. So just what constitutes bling? Surely not a replacement screw designed to make it easier for the optically challenged amongst us to secure our investments in the GPS field?

Sorry Snoopy, but I don't understand why you appear to have such a downer on someone offering a product that does what it claims and I'm sorry that you see fit to have a go at people who choose to modify and customize their bikes to their taste. It's their money and their choice and as long as it gives them pleasure and enjoyment without harming me, then good luck to them

REPLACEMENT SECURITY SCREW (ZUMO)

Got mine in the post today, must say" happy with it for the peace of mind". Much better idea than the fiddly screw fitted as standard. Much easier to take it off and pop in pocket than before. Thanks ECM for the info to start with. I'm pleased with it, just saying like-----------

Sorry Davy F, no Touratech bling on my bike.

If you incorrectly flip the catch down then your Zumo will fall out.

Fair-do's if you can accidently hit the catch then the screw is useful. So that's the reason for having one then.

got my screws today
having read the above posts does anyone ever leave theres on out of site
me and storm were out the other day
on a 250 mile jolly with Mrs both in tow
he said its safe as you cant get it off if the catch dont come up as we went into the motorway cafe
i had always felt that any hard up non working druggie who saw a sat nav attatched to a bike would just rip it straight off and run like the clappers he at that point doesent know its registered and couldnt enter the code to get it going
hence why i got the screws
quick on and off
always with me in my pocket
what do you think
