Gear change 2015 R1200RT

A few months ago I tried a 15 model GS to compare to my early 14 GS, and decided that the gearbox wasn't really any different. Yesterday though, I had a new R1200R loaner and the gearbox on that was absolutely lovely. Definitely better than either GS I've ridden. Even the GSAP slid in effortlessly, unlike on my GS which needs a firm prod a lot of the time.

I tried the new RS and the gearbox on that was as good as my TC no clunk into first and the quickshifter was seamless .

But why so different !

Another 20 mile commute to work this morning on the brand new loaner RT - guess what? it has started to clonk into 1st :) lots of stop start through St. Neots' traffic lights and 9/10 times got a clonk, not massive but still there - however it is a bit slicker than the GS - it must be due tiny variations in clutch drag? In many ways it is like my 2013 GS, when stone cold after being left over night it goes into 1st without a sound but once a little warm the clonk comes back.

None of this a problem and doesn't detract from the bike - it is bloody lovely!

Wait till the dealer has dumped the running in oil and refills with the normal stuff I suspect it will be like all the others - marginal at best

It the paint coming off the engine and final drive yet? have a good look and report back - please

Nah it is a loan bike and apart from the old man colour scheme :) I'd love to have one!
