Hi Guys, Just looking for some advice, I took my 1200gs out for the first time this year, when I got it going I seemed to have very little clutch lever pressure but within a mile it appeared that normal service had been resumed.

After about 5 miles I began to notice that it was becoming difficult to change down thro' the box particularly from 5th to 4th and down, 6th to 5th was OK. After a bit longer it was a bit tricky to change up but not nearly as bad as down shift (made for some exciting bends). The clutch by this time was fine.:nenau When the bike was laid up last year it was perfect with no such issues.

Perhaps this problem has been raised before if so I cant find any previous threads or I am using the wrong description.

My questions are,
1. on the clutch issue, has anyone come across this soft feel situation ?
2. has anyone experience this gear change difficulty, if so what causes it ?

check the gear lever shaft through the frame hasnt partially seized and the linkage ball joints are well lubed.

If rev matching allows it to shift the problem is likely to be the clutch not releasing when lever pulled.

Down shifts are always easier and smoother if the clutch is pulled fractionally early so the revs blip.

I'd start there as well, The ball joints can sieze up so get them aprt and lube accordingley:thumb
