Gear lever removal - socket size

Anyone know what size socket I need to remove the fastener securing the gear lever onto the spline?

It's an E-fit socket (female Torx) which can also be undone with a normal ring spanner, about 8mm IIRC.

Thanks Adam, I'll give the 8mm a crack to see if I can save having to buy the Torx.

Replace it with a 5mm allen bolt, once it's off. It's the only tor-x of that size on the bike.

Interesting...

The 8mm didn't fit my 2010 GSA - but digging around in the bottom of the tool box, I found something that did - a VERY old 1/4" AF ring spanner!

Good advice to replace it though Mr K...

I remembered using a small ring spanner, sorry about the duff info I now recall after reading your post it was 1/4" AF.

I just checked in the garage and the socket is an E8.
