I must be missing something here. I kept thinking through this vid "clutchless changes" . I dont think it is for me, not on a GS. Airshifter on my old Busa was something completely different.Maybe I have missed the point.:nenau

Nasty urban environment. If he rides there all the time, he should just have bought a scooter.... :P

This guy is duffs on Advrider - ridden his GS LC through mud and crap, rides an F800GS as well and has toured considerably. His contributions to that forum are considered and excellently written.
Don't know him personally, just what I have observed . . . :rob

Good for him. He should still buy a scooter for riding in that London place.

Not the best demo I have seen, don't understand why there is so much controversy over this shifter? You pay your money and take a chance :-) I have been using mine now for over 1,000 miles and it's great the fun factor alone is worth the £400 but it does make clutch gear changing a little tedious , the better parts are the up shift from 3 to 4 to 5 to 6 ... Then coming down, when you have mastered it and understood it you find it is very useful. I too did not get it at first but now I find it safe smooth and defiantly a advantage. It's like most things take it off me know and I would miss it! ........ Like so many things if they are there you can use em,if there not you can,t. I get this all the time re Gerbings clothing again I say if you have it you can turn it on if you don't you keep up with the cold.. Each to their own but out of all the extra,s I have and got on "Olive" the gear shifter and my Akro are the best:-) IMHO

I find the clutchless downshifts under heavy braking, fantastic. Come in to a fast bend, loads of front brake then, 4,3,2, while braking, then round the bend, 3,4,5,6, and you're off again. Brilliant bit of kit, and once you've ridden with one, you won't give it up.:thumb:JB

Qs are great , I was told by a BMW mechanic that they could also cause premature wear to gearbox components such as star selector shafts.
Not sure if there's any truth in it , though the star selector was a common issue on the RR
My s1000 used to bang between changes , loved it...

FFS :) you have to spoil my fun with that statement, this bad boy already does 3-4-5-6

But ! on Saturday I'm fitting the BMW quickshifter to my own bike, so ill see what all this talk is about and if its any better than my translogic, tis a tough cookie to beat ill leave it on.

Do anybody have an BMW part number for the Quickshifter? My dealer is a bit confused, and so are BMW Motorrad Norway...

They aren't the only ones! Why you'd fit a quickshift to a GS let alone a GSA beats me. But then, I guess very few GS's these days do what they were designed to do. The fact that a previous youtube video demos the gear assist around London manifestly demonstrates what kind of bike they have become and the kind of customer buying them. A similar proposition would be to add tiptronic paddle gear shifts to a Landrover Defender. Not for me thanks. :nenau
