Gear shift pro

Apparently you can have it retrofitted £380 + labour I was told.

See if you can try a dealer bike with it fitted before parting with your money.

I had it on my RT and have ridden a GS with it and to be honest it wasn't that great. Felt just like I was forcing the gears through without using the clutch.

Had it fitted to my new bike, not worth it, changes not at all smooth. Can do better and quicker changes using clutch....

Look at the end of the gear change shaft where it comes out of the gearbox.
It there is a threaded hole in it,you can retrofit a Pro shift.

Personally I would save your money, mine is quite smooth now it's got 7000 miles on it but still nowhere as good as the XR 1000.
On the RT I rarely use it.

I like it, and will spec it on my next bike. It's smoother on the XR, but on the 2015 and newer GS/ GSA it works well.

Tried the quick shift on GS, GSA, RS, R and XR and only the XR worked as smoothly as it should. Reason being it's the only one with a slipper clutch. Downchanges on the boxers must be very stressful on the transmission.

From the dark side this was sent ...

Wrong!:blast

GS LC GSA LC has a slipper clutch, got Gear shift Pro retro fitted to my 2014 GSA LC works a treat and no complaints, don't use it much between 1st-2nd or 2nd -1st other than that it's great :thumby:

I have gear shift pro fitted, came as a freebee on my gs.I wouldn't have paid the extra for it having not tried it before, but it does work well from second upwards on the upchange and down to third on the downchange.it needs to be used quite high up the rev range otherwise it can be a bit clonky.I wasn't arsed if I had it fitted or not but find I'm using it all the time...a bit like the sat nav that I wasn't arsed about either!

Just a pointer for those with quick shift, (personally I like it), it needs calibrating EVERYTIME the dealer puts the bike on diagnostics, dont know why but this might explain those that have issues with it.
Hope this helps

Gear shift assist pro was fitted to my bike when I bought it. Like some others, I wasn't bothered about it but
am pretty impressed with it. Occasionally it will be a bit lumpy but most of the time, it snicks in very smoothly.

Would definitely go for it again if I ever change the bike.

I tried it on a K1300S and it was a giggle when it worked, but it was a bit temperamental. If I order an S1000XR I may take the plunge to maximise the adrenaline rush under acceleration:cool:

Yup, it works a treat but best when going up and down through the gears rather than in traffic or trickling along. It improved after the 600 mile service which suggests that there was a software upgrade.

The backend of my 14 snakes around if I drop down the gears too aggressively especially 2nd to first - love it.
