Took my 97 1100 out for the first time since early November ,stopped to fill her up with fuel about 300 yards from my house ,any way when I tried to gear down the box would not select down and at one point I could not get out of third up or down .anyway abandoned my planned trip and took it home .Had a cup and unloaded the bike, and took it over a local country rode about Eight miles to have another feel at it ,noticed if i flicked the lever up a fraction before changing down it selected no problem and after a while it would select ok then not but definately improving .I think something must have stuck in the winter layup and its loosenig off with use but what, and has anyone else had this experience .Any advice would be much appreciated thanks

OK...you live in the back and beyond ...has any water got into the clutch cable....is it all nice and free - rusting/frozen? ( not sure if you are still frozen up there:))

I'd drop the oil and see if any better with new quality semi-syn gearbox oil in there:thumb2

Nothing else it could be...other than.............................expensive !!

Remove and lubricate the lever pivot as well as the linkages.
