Gearbox problem?

On my 6 month old 12GS, sometimes when changing from 1st to 2nd, the box goes straight into neutral. It doesn't happen all the time - and I realise that neutral is between the two, but it can be a right pain.

Has anyone else had this? Is it related to going at low speeds? Reckon it needs a visit to the dealer?

It maybe you just need to adjust the gearleaver to suit you, which is dead easy

Try adjusting the lever but don't just presume thats the problem. Ours did that for a year and I adjusted the lever and blamed myself for not being used to BMW 'boxes. Over a year later the tranny seals went and while the back was off the bike the dealer replaced the 'box.

The difference was night and day - after cursing the damn thing for almost dumping us both in the road countless times as it 'let go', I haven't missed one change since it was done (about 10k ago) Plus it's a new spec box and feels a lot smoother than the old one ever did.

Yeah - I'll try adjusting the lever, but it doesn't seem as if that's the problem. It really seems that the box just slips into neutral during the transition without warning.

Think I'll take it to the dealer anyway - that's what he's there for!
