Gearchange.

Good Afternoon All

Went out on Friday and found the gearchange a bit reluctant half way round our ride. Later it did not play. "Nipped out" this Morning and it is near impossible to select gears. Now just out of Warranty. Any ideas or experience from anyone?

How is the oil level and condition?

Hi Stumpyfingers

Now at 7K and had it's Service at 6.5K at the end of last year, level fine.
She just does not want to play.

Check chain tension
I find gears become hard to select if the chain is too loose

Have you checked that the gear lever isn't loose? If it's loose it might fould on the engine casing causing a sticky gear change. Yes, mine has done that.

Are the gearchanges difficult all the time or just at standstill? Is the clutch behaving normally and is it the same if you try a clutchless change? Any different hot or cold?

Assuming it's none of the above... it's back to the dealer and pray that they'll do a goodwill repair if you're just out of warranty ... sounds like selector forks to me...

When mine did this I took it in and they replaced the selector shaft - under warranty...
