Can anyone please tell me the torque setting for the bolt that attaches the shift lever to the gearbox (the one that passes through the centre of the shift shaft). I can’t find a figure anywhere in the repair manual.

Personally I find that tightening until you need to apply ANY force to the tool to turn the bolt in Then at that stage its 1/8th to 1/4 of a turn and not any further :aidan

It's usually Damn close and NOT a danger in alloy :rob

Transmission shifter lever:
The 13 foot-pounds specification has caused confusion. The bolt that goes through the shift lever into the transmission has a diameter of 6 mm type and is 80 mm long, and it requires a 5 mm allen wrench and 6.8 Nm. I torque that bolt to 5 foot-pounds, which is the same as 60 inch-pounds.
